Play-Calling Wristband; All divisions of Little League Softball®
Effective immediately, pitchers at all levels of the Little League Softball® program will be permitted to wear items (e.g.: sweatband, play-calling wristband, etc.) on the non-pitching arm. Pitchers will still not be able to wear any item on the pitching hand, wrist, or arm with exception of a compression sleeve.
Please note that pitchers shall take the signal or appear to be taking the signal on the pitcher’s plate and must deliver the next pitch within 20 seconds of receiving the ball or the umpire indicating “play.” All pitching rules apply and will be enforced.
This new rule applies for all levels of Little League Softball®, both regular season and tournament play. The full text of the updated rules 1.15(c) and 8.02(a)(2) are as follows:
1.15(c) – No pitcher shall wear any item on the pitching hand, wrist, or arm. A pitcher may wear items on the glove arm (non-pitching arm) of a solid, single color: black, white, grey or a uniform color. [See also Rule 1.11(j).] A pitcher shall not wear any items on his/her hands, wrists, or arms which the umpire may judge to be distracting. Exception: A pitcher may wear a compression sleeve on the pitching arm of a solid, single color: black, white, grey or a uniform color.
8.02(a)(2) – The pitcher shall not wear a sweatband, bracelet, or similar type items on the wrist or forearm of the pitching arm. Items worn on the glove arm must be of a solid, single color: black, white, grey or uniform color. [See also Rule 1.11(j)];
Note: This only applies to Little League Softball, and does not apply to any division of Little League Baseball®
