PLAY BALL! Woonsocket LL opens up new field on Social Street

WOONSOCKET – The dreary weather didn’t match the mood of the hundreds of folks who turned out to witness the grand opening of the new Napoleon Lajoie Little League Field at the renovated World War II Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday morning.

Local historian Ray Bacon, grinning ear-to-ear, admitted a little rain never hurt anybody, and Cercle Laurier catcher Chris Ortega – who caught the honorary first pitch from Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt – claimed he couldn’t wait to backstop his pitcher at the newest home of the Woonsocket Little League’s six-team Major Division.
